Turning the Wheel of Time Back on Coaching
Coaching frameworks of today derive their effectiveness from certain traits that have been practiced by leaders for centuries. In his talk, Rajat will explore the lives of leaders and famous personalities from various points in time, who knowingly or unknowingly, have been masters of these traits. He will discuss how they used these traits and skills efficiently to be great coaches for their teams. Pioneers in literally every field have acted as a coach mobilizing their team to the next level using these measures. As practitioners of the coaching craft, it should prove a fascinating journey to look back at the origins of some of these aspects of the craft that we coaches practice in the present. The exploration should help us gain more clarity and depth into this wisdom that has stood the test of time.
Rajat's personal passion is his lifelong endeavor of reading and researching about Indian history. So even though fiction is his muse, the in-depth research, the reality and the people in the stories are real. His research into, and his fascination about the life of the first Mauryan emperor and the lack of contemporary stories on such legends of our past so provoked him - he decide to do fill this lacunae himself. Never mind that he had not written a single story for his school or college magazine until then!
The historical fiction Chandragupta: Path of a Fallen Demi-god that that went on to become a national bestseller! Not only that, it has been translated into regional languages and the movie rights acquired by one of India’s top film production houses! His second book The Dead Woman Writing was a popular psychological thriller and earlier this year, Rajat published his third book - a historical fiction, Yoddha: The Dynasty of Samudragupta. The book has earned rave reviews across the country and the book’s launch post on Facebook garnered an unprecedented 1 lakh ‘likes’!
Rajat completed his MBA from a top business school and ventured into the corporate world a decade back. He lives in Mumbai and juggles his day job as a senior software program manager in India’s top bank along with being a speaker on leadership and a coach. For the past 2 years Rajat has been part of coaching initiatives in NGOs and educational institutions, and is due to complete his ACC certification under ICF in a few months.
